Refuse gas. Benefits of switching to other energy sources.
2020-09-16
Rising gas prices, environmental problems, and the emergence of alternative technologies have led to the desire of real estate objects to switch to other sources of energy. In this article, we will talk about the options for avoiding the use of gas.
For residential buildings, everything looks simple. In developed countries, for example, there are special programs and zero credits for the purchase of electric stoves and ovens instead of gas, as well as the installation of electric boilers for heating water. Heating in apartment buildings is centralized, so there are no problems with this.
There are methods in Ukraine to stimulate the private sector to switch to electric heating. So when installing electric boilers in private houses, from October to May, there is a special low tariff for electricity.
In the commercial sector and manufacturing facilities, the modern business model around the world is to make the most of the available resources for recycling or reuse. What are the options here?
- Conversion of gas and liquid fuel boilers to fossil fuels, which, for example, is a by-product of production activities (sunflower husk, wood pellets, bird droppings, etc.), helps to significantly increase energy efficiency.
- The modernization of solid fuel boilers, namely the increase in power by changing the pre-flow combustion system (vortex combustion), is also becoming an economically viable solution.
- Using the residual potential of technological coolants. Installation of condensate traps, secondary use of heated water in heat stations
It is worth dwelling separately on alternative energy sources. The most relevant for our latitudes are solar panels and wind turbines. A few years ago, these solutions were absolutely not profitable. However, the cheaper equipment for such power plants is getting cheaper every year. In addition, the development of increasing the efficiency of solar panels and wind turbines continues.
As of the end of 2019, electricity production from green power plants amounted to 8.4 billion kWh, which is 5.5% of total generation. Taking into account that over the past year, new capacities were built twice as much as in all previous years, we can say that such energy is a very promising direction for the development of Ukrainian energy.
In conclusion, it is worth noting that working on gas equipment will entail more and more costs, so the sooner companies switch to other solutions, the more competitive the product or service will be.
